Why Juicing Made My Wife Cry

No, it wasn’t the fact that two juices into a 10 day 100% juice-only run she couldn’t take it. Nor was it in sympathy as I persevered and chugged a yet another Mean Green Juice over the sink – just in case… Although I’m pleased to report that there are more palatable juices too!

It was this evening having got home after a guitar lesson, something pre-juicing I didn’t feel able to do, and told her that my fingers not only had no pain, but when I cleaned the house the other day I felt pretty normal too. Arms above head. Check. Down on the floor. Check. Perhaps I should have kept that gem to myself else I might find myself with more cleaning tasks than usual. In fact it was probably the cleaning which brought about the tears of joy.

In short. 22 days in. Juicing has changed my life. And this is just the start!

Get Back To Work And Make It Happen

Right now, somewhere in the world, a child is being born into an uberly rich family. That child will grow up to inherit millions for absolutely no work. He’ll live the good life full of yachts and private jets.

Right now, somewhere in the world, there is a party happening full of gorgeous wealthy people who need not lift a finger to attain the luxuries that they have. Their success is only a matter of genetics and luck.

Right now, somewhere in the world, is an investment banker who is making literally millions after clicking a few buttons and making a few phone calls to a few friends. He knows the right people and is in the right place, and that’s all that matters.

Right now, somewhere in the world, is a 20-some year old guy who is worth billions because of a website he started. He was born into a family that sent him to the right high school. He then went on to one of the best universities in the country, built his website, moved, met the right people, and raised $500+ million in funding. He and likely generations down the line are set for life.

Right now, somewhere in the world, is a 17yr old teenager who started a company with some money from his parents, built a product, with help from friends and family, and got acquired for $30 million.

There’s always someone becoming richer than you for much less work, every second of the day. Look past that and just keep working. I get down about how unfair that is from time to time, but there’s nothing you can really do about it, other than focus on your work.

Juicing Challenge Update – Day 5

So 5 days in and I haven’t cracked. Yet. Whilst no food has passed my lips since Friday I’m finding some of the juices a bit of a struggle. Mainly the green ones. I used to love cucumber, and I hope I will again but, for now, downing a glassful is perhaps too much. The smell is enough to turn my stomach. Thankfully my wife is eating normal food which masks the juicer’s output.

Juice aside and living the day to day, I don’t feel overly hungry, weak or faint. The walks are still taking place. Side effects have been non-existent. In terms of the results I’m looking for, I’m not yet there but feel as though I am on the cusp of change. This leaves me with a quandary; do I juice 100% and push through as long as I can stomach it, or aim for 15 days and then introduce a clean evening meal.

As an aside, I walked around the supermarket last night to top up on apples and mint, I came to the realisation that I am a slave to the juicer. There was no item I could have consumed there and then and not considered myself a fraud. It did however leave me wondering what what happen if I stuck a rotisserie chicken through the juicer, but that’s just not cricket!
