Laura Pechey

Laura Charlotte Pechey has studied at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa and the University of Leeds where she completed a thesis on the 'worth' of animals in the works of J. M. Coetzee. She is currently in the second year of PhD research at the University of Cambridge. Her thesis is entitled 'Reading the schepselboek: Animalisation in South African Writing'. Laura's most recent research has involved a study of the Afrikaans word 'skepsel' (creature) and of the relationship between the Bible and South African fiction.
