Profile:

Patrick Hayes

Patrick Hayes is studying for a doctorate at St John's College, Oxford. His interests centre around the history and theory of the novel, especially on the implications of twentieth-century experimentation. His doctoral work focuses on the ways in which J.M. Coetzee's fiction engages with the complex legacy of the novel, most particularly with regard to how Coetzee has sought to address questions relating to political commitment, the viability of the aesthetic, and literary originality through an interrogation of the form and material history of this specific literary genre.
